1. Overview

1.1 Introduction

The TikTok Shop Restricted and Unsupported Products Guidelines have been drafted with the express purpose of:

• Building a positive shopping environment on TikTok Shop; and
• Providing a shopping experience that consumers can have confidence in.

All sellers who offer products for sale via TikTok Shop must do so in accordance with these guidelines.

1.2 Scope

These TikTok Shop Restricted and Unsupported Products Guidelines cover restricted product categories and related requirements for sellers who wish to list such products. It is important to note that if a product type falls under more than one category below, that product must meet all the applicable requirements before being listed on TikTok Shop.Sellers who wish to sell any restricted products listed below are required to obtain the necessary approvals as set out in these guidelines. Additionally, sellers may also sell certain categories of products only if they have been given approval via TikTok Shop's limited "invite-only" process. Important Note: TikTok Shop may take enforcement actions against sellers or creators who breach these guidelines in accordance with our Merchant Terms of Service. Sellers are also responsible for ensuring that the listing, sale, and provision of products on TikTok Shop comply at all times with applicable laws and regulations.These guidelines are intended to facilitate seller compliance. They are not exhaustive and are not intended as legal advice. We encourage sellers to seek independent legal advice if they have questions about the laws and regulations concerning their products.In addition to these restricted product guidelines, we have separately published our TikTok Shop Prohibited Product Guidelines* that outline classes of products that must not be sold on TikTok Shop under any circumstances. Sellers must ensure they also comply with these guidelines before listing any products.Our TikTok Shop Guidelines are updated periodically. Sellers are responsible for checking this page regularly to ensure that they comply with our current guidelines.

2. Definitions

• Prohibited Products refer to products banned by local law or regulation and not allowed for sale on TikTok Shop.
• Restricted Products refer to certain types of products that require prior approval from TikTok Shop to be sold. Sellers who wish to sell restricted products may be required to pass a category approval process before selling such products. This process may require sellers to submit documents including but not limited to certifications, testing reports, product or package images, and other regulatory documentation.
• Unsupported products refer to certain types of products that are currently prohibited from being sold on TikTok Shop. While sellers may have the necessary qualifications or permissions for selling these products, TikTok shop does not currently support their sale on the platform.
• Invite Only refer to specific product categories that sellers can only sell if they have been onboarded via an "invite-only" process.

3. Restricted Products (Product Categories that Require Approval)

All sellers must pass a product approval process before selling restricted products on TikTok Shop. This process requires sellers to submit documents including but not limited to certifications, testing reports, product/package images, and other qualifications. Sellers may also have to submit additional documentations for some product categories.
The guidelines below set out the relevant requirements sellers must meet before making a submission to sell certain categories of restricted products. We may verify the submitted documents for compliance, verification, and validation purposes. Sellers who fail to pass the product approval process are prohibited from selling restricted products on TikTok Shop.

3.1 Streaming Media Devices (Restricted)

Streaming media devices or set-top boxes (also known as TV boxes) require product approval before being sold on TikTok Shop. Sellers are required to submit supporting documents such as Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) certificate of conformity, and/or Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) device registration to verify the product is compliant with relevant laws and regulations.roducts. We may verify the submitted documents for compliance, verification, and validation purposes. Sellers who fail to pass the product approval process are prohibited from selling restricted products on TikTok Shop.

4. "Invite Only" Product Categories

Sellers can only sell products under the following categories if they have been onboarded via an "invite-only" process, which requires submitting relevant required documentation through the Seller Center as follows: My Account > Account Settings > Qualification Center.

4.1 Select Automotive Products, and Motorcycles ("Invite-only")

• Car and motorcycle batteries and accessories
• Automatic Transmission Motorcycles
• Electric Motorcycles
• Manual Transmission Motorcycles

4.2 Select Baby and Maternity Products ("Invite-only")

Select baby and maternity products such as formula milk, vitamins and supplements, and food items can only be sold if a seller has submitted relevant required documentation in the Qualification Center.Sellers who wish to sell these products may be required to submit valid safety and compliance documentation before listing such items. Important Note: Sellers who wish to list infant milk formula will need to take note that as per Malaysian law (Code of Ethics for the Marketing of Infant Foods and Related Products), marketing activities for infant milk formula (defined as milk formula for infants aged up to 12 months) are strictly prohibited. This includes promotional activities such as but not limited to - setting promotional prices (discounts), vouchers, entering campaigns and so on.

4.3 Select Media Products ("Invite Only")

The following select media products can only be sold if a seller has submitted relevant required documentation in the Qualification Center.

4.4 Medicines and Medical Devices ("Invite-only")

The following medicines and medical devices can only be sold if a seller has submitted relevant required documentation in the Qualification Center.

• Medicines. Herbal medicine, baby and child medicine, and Over-The-Counter medicine.
• Treatments. Over-The-Counter (OTC) treatments such as ointments or creams for eczema, psoriasis and rosacea care, scars, stretch marks, pain relief and antifungal care.
• Medical devices (all types). Medical devices/products that include but are not limited to any medical instrument, apparatus, appliance, software, or material intended for home use. This also includes:
  • Any device or product intended by its manufacturer to be used, alone, or in combination with other products
  • Any device or product intended for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes
• Household medical devices. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Blood pressure monitors
  • Testing kits (e.g Pregnancy tests, COVID-19 self-test kits, family planning tests)
  • Products used in acupuncture
  • Electric Stimulators
  • Hearing Aids
  • Respiratory Aids & Accessories
  • Smoking Cessation

4.5 Health Supplements ("Invite-only")

The following health supplements can only be sold if a seller has submitted relevant required documentation in the Qualification Center.

• Beauty supplements
• Fitness supplements
• Wellness supplements
• Meal replacements and protein drinks

4.6 Jewellery, Watches and Accessories ("Invite-only")

Sellers can only sell jewellery, watches, or accessories containing gems or precious metals, such as gold, platinum, and palladium, if they submit relevant required documentation in the Qualification Center.Please note there are products within this category that must not be sold via TikTok Shop under any circumstances. Some examples are:

• Precious metals that are not stamped in compliance with applicable laws, including assay marks on items described as “gold.”
• Precious metals over 1 gram that have not been accurately weighted with stamped weighing and measuring equipment.
• Rough diamonds that do not comply with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme.

4.7 Precious Metal Bullions ("Invite-only")

Gold, silver, platinum and other precious metal bullions can only be sold if a seller has submitted relevant required documentation in the Qualification Center.

Pre-Owned Products ("Invite-only")
The following secondhand products can only be sold if a seller has submitted relevant required documentation in the Qualification Center.

• Bags
• Luggage
• Fashion Accessories
• Menswear
• Womenswear
• Mobile phones, tablets, and laptops
• Shoes
• Watches

4.9 Miscellaneous Items ("Invite Only")

The following miscellaneous items can only be sold if a seller has submitted relevant required documentation in the Qualification Center.

• SIM cards
• Tattoo machines
• Computer software
• Styptic gels and powders for pets
• Non-corrective cosmetic contact lenses (also known as decorative, coloured, or fashion contact lenses that do not correct vision)
• Live plants and flowers
• Rice
• Streaming Media Devices (also known as TV Box)

5. Brand Approval

TikTok Shop is dedicated to protecting the rights of all Intellectual Property (IP) holders. Sellers who wish to list products on our platform must do so in accordance with local regulations, laws, and our TikTok Shop Intellectual Property Guidelines.* Sellers are required to submit brand-related approval documentation before listing any branded products. Required documents are as follows:

• For brand owners
  • Copies of authentic trademark certification(s)
  • Trademark registration verification issued by lawful authorities
• For distributors of branded products
  • Trademark certification(s)
  • Licensing agreements of the registered trademark
  • Authorization from the brand owners
  • Proof of Purchase to demonstrate the authenticity of the products

Note that the approval documentation requirements may vary. Sellers must follow the Seller Center instructions and submit all required documentation promptly.

6. Unsupported Products

All unsupported products are currently prohibited from being sold on TikTok Shop. While sellers may have the necessary qualifications or permissions for selling these products locally, TikTok shop does not support the sale of the following products on our platform:

6.1 Select Motor Vehicles and Automotive Parts (Unsupported)

Select motor vehicles, as well as automotive accessories/parts, are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop.

• Cars
• Other automotive parts and accessories. Certain types of automotive parts and accessories are currently unsupported. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Salvaged vehicle parts
  • Snowmobile parts

6.2 Select Baby and Maternity Products (Unsupported)

Select baby and maternity products are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop. This includes but is not limited to:

• Infant formula milk

6.3 Select Collectible Items and Accessories (Unsupported)

Select collectible items and accessories are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop. This includes but is not limited to:

• Chinese calligraphy
• Paintings (e.g. chinese, western)
• Incense burners and spices
• Ceramics, including red porcelain and jian ware
• Gemstone carvings
• Cut/carved/engraved seals (i.e. zhuanke)
• Photocards
• Non-sports trading cards
• Trading card accessories (e.g. card sleeves/protectors, card albums)

6.4 Alcohol (Unsupported)

Alcohol is currently unsupported on TikTok Shop.

6.3 Weight Management Products (Unsupported)

Weight management products and products which claim to help with weight management, whether in the form of pills, powder, powdered drinks, gummies, jellies or otherwise, are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop.

6.4 Select Medicines and Medical Supplies (Unsupported)

Select medicines and medical supplies are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop. This includes but is not limited to:

• Medical needles

6.5 Select Media Products (Unsupported)

Various media products are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop.

• Media products. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Book categories that are not listed in Section 4

6.6 Select Pet Supplies (Unsupported)

Select pet supplies are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop.

• Farm animal health care products
• Medication for dogs and cats

6.7 Political Products (Unsupported)

Political products are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop.

• Political products. Political products are products that may contain or refer to political elements. Products may be considered political if they are:
  • Related to a politician, political party, or political figure.
  • Related to campaigns or elections.
  • Related to political issues of public debate.
  • Advocate for or against a politician or a political party.

Note: The platform will evaluate and determine, at our own discretion, if a violation is present and take necessary actions where applicable.

6.8 Sex or Adult Products (Unsupported)

Sex or adult products are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop.

• Sex or adult products. Any product that appears to be designed for use in sexual or adult activity. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Sex toys and games
  • Erotic clothing
  • Erotic wellness and massage
  • Bondage gear/accessories
  • fetish wear, sex furnishing, sexual enhancers, or any other adult products depicting or suggesting sexual activity
  • Sexual wellness items (e.g. contraceptives, lubricants and other similar products)
  • Sexual enhancement or performance supplements

6.9 Mystery Boxes (Unsupported)

Mystery Boxes (including but not limited to, surprise boxes, mystery pouches, mystery bundles, or any products of the like) that allow customers to receive random products, are unsupported.

6.10 Secondhand Products (Unsupported)

Secondhand (including refurbished) products are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Secondhand and refurbished electronics (except for mobile phones, tablets, and laptops)
• Secondhand household appliances
• Secondhand fashion items such as apparel, shoes, and fashion accessories
• Secondhand furniture
• Secondhand books
• Secondhand sports equipment such as fitness machines, skateboards, bicycles, and golf clubs
• Secondhand musical instruments
• Used cosmetics, and other beauty products

6.11 Virtual Products (Unsupported)

Various virtual products are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop.

• Virtual products. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Memberships, services, warranties, or subscriptions
  • Digital downloads of books, magazines, newspapers, music, videos
  • Other products such as rechargeable cards
  • E-tickets for events such as movies, concerts and sporting events

6.12 Services (Unsupported)

Services are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop.

• Services. Offers for the sale of any type of service. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Any type of job promotion
  • Travel services
  • Construction services
  • Lawn care
  • Electrician services
  • Plumbing and cleaning services
  • Automotive services
  • Recycling services
  • Fitness guidance
  • Financial services
  • Veterinary or animal-related services
  • Shares, securities or other postage

6.13 Miscellaneous items (Unsupported)

The following products are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop.

• Physical gift cards, coupons and gift certificates
• Live animals, livestock, and pets
• Lighters (with the exemption of electric lighter)
• Smoking apparatus, including pipes and rolling papers
• Physical membership card

4. Further Information and Audit

TikTok Shop may review and audit product listings at any time. Random audits may also be performed to identify any changes in listing information that violates this page's guidelines. Product detail pages that violate these Restricted Product Guidelines may be removed. We may also temporarily or permanently suspend the selling privileges of sellers who are involved in severe or repeated violations. We reserve the right to report sellers who violate local laws and regulations to the necessary legal authorities.

5. Appeal

Sellers who believe their products were blocked or removed erroneously can raise a ticket through Seller Center to file an appeal. If the product is found to be permitted for sale, appropriate adjustments to our systems and the seller's account status will be made.
